We’re going back to basics with electrical safety! We tend to forget that electricity is not something to take lightly and we must take precautions and safety measures if we are dealing with electricity in any capacity! Of course, we highly recommend hiring a professional for any electrical work that must be done in your space to keep you and your family safe.
However, here are some things to keep in mind day to day:
- Keep electrical equipment away from water
- Unplug equipment safely – do not yank the cord, pull it from the base of the wall plug
- Properly install and keep electrical cords tidy
- Familiarize yourself with your switchboard – ask your electrician for the breakdown
- Look out for electrical lines and don’t touch them
- Childproof your outlets
- Investigate flickering lights and hire an electrician if you’re unsure
- Install warning signs in zones where it is dangerous
